FACULTY OF SANITATION AND FOOD TECHNOLOGY

The Faculty was founded in 1991 as one of three faculties at the former Zoo-Veterinary Institute (Academy of Veterinary Medicine).

The Faculty offers the following studies: technology of meat and meat products, technology of milk and milk products, technology of fats and fat substitutes, veterinary sanitation and food examination.

Technology of meat and meat products, technology of milk and milk products as well as technology of fats and fat substitutes are two-stages studies: 4 years BSc studies and 1 year Master studies. Vocational extramural BSc studies last 5 years, complementary specialist studies last 1 year. The studies veterinary sanitation and food examination as a specialty are one-stage studies and last 5.5 years, leading to a Master diploma.

The graduates of above mentioned studies are fully prepared to deal with enterprises of meat and milk industries such as meat-packing plants, milk dairies, butter, and cheese plants, with slaughter and processing shops, poultry farms, laboratories for food examination at markets.

At present more than 800 students study at the Faculty. It consists of 10 departments whose potential includes 10 professors, 46 associate professors, 11 senior lecturers and 30 assistants.

Specialists' training of the Faculty is carried out according to the IV accreditation level. The students take part in the scientific work, are participants of amateur performances and of sports competitions.
