General Information

The city of Lviv where the Lviv State Academy (University) of Veterinary Medicine is located lies in the western part of Ukraine.

Lviv State Academy (University) of Veterinary Medicine named after S.Z.Gzhytskyj is one of 17 higher educational institutions in the city of Lviv.

The University has five faculties of full-time instruction – veterinary medicine, animal husbandry, sanitation and food technology, the faculty of preacademic studies, the faculty of marketing and management. There are also a faculty of postgraduate studies and the faculty of correspondence instructional courses.

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine offers the 5,5 years studies, leading to the Master of Veterinary Medicine with the opportunity to gain Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (Ph.D.).

The Faculty of Animal Husbandry has a 5 years learning curriculum, leading to a Bachelor of Science degree (BSc) after 4 years and to the Master-Zooengineer diploma after 5 years.

The Faculty of Sanitation and Food Technology is a 5 years program of studies with the opportunity to gain a Master diploma.

The Faculty of Marketing and Management is a 5 years curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Science degree (BSc) after 4 years and to the Master diploma after 5 years.

After completing their educational programs, postgraduate students have an opportunity to continue their specialization and to obtain the Ph.D. degree under the guidance of experienced professors.

Instruction in all faculties is conducted in Ukrainian or Russian.
Foreign citizens, who are not strong enough in Ukrainian or Russian, can enter a one year grounding course, which includes an intense language program, as well as some basic training in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Graduate students of these courses can be enrolled for the first year classes in Lviv State University of Veterinary Medicine.

Academic Year starts on September 1.
Grounding courses start on October 1.

2. Senior high school (12 years of education) transcripts
3. Birth certificate
4. Physical health examination report
5. HIV test results
6. Eight photographs (3 x 4 cm)

Preparatory Course. Language Study

1. Foreigners not speaking Ukrainian or Russian are enrolled in preparatory department at the University for a year, where they study Ukrainian or Russian.

2. At the end of the preparatory year there are final examinations. Those who pass them successfully get certificates of a certain form giving the right to study at Lviv State University of Veterinary Medicine.

3. The Deadline for presenting documents – 1 September.

Beginning of study – 1 October.

Studying Conditions

On graduating from the University, foreign students receive diplomas of international pattern that certify their acquired education of a definite qualification degree in accordance with the educational system structure existing in Ukraine.

Visa Support

Foreign citizens willing to study at Lviv State University of Veterinary Medicine get invitations for the studies giving the right to the official registration of his (her) visa for Ukraine at the Ukrainian Embassy in their country.

To get the visa for Ukraine foreign candidates have to apply to the Ukrainian Embassy in their country with the official invitation. The Department of international relations of Lviv State University of Veterinary Medicine supplies official invitations to applicants. The following information about applicants is needed:

• Citizenship

• Passport data (full name, date of birth, passport number)

• Permanent address, phone/fax number, e-mail

Having been enrolled for the studies at the University foreign citizens must get their right for temporary residence in Ukraine officially registered in accordance with the law.

Foreigners are obliged to keep to the visa – registration regulations for foreign citizens accepted on the territory of Ukraine.
